BA(Hons) Photography and Video Art

This course engages with lens-based media, including still and moving image, within a Fine Art context. Students will gain a variety of both analogue and digital technical skills through ideas-based teaching, and the course will encourage cross-disciplinary practice and lively critical debate.

Acknowledging that photographic practice and discourse underpins much of contemporary art production, the course structure enables students to forge a relationship between their own emerging practice and their understanding of critical ideas and knowledge of cultural contexts. Students will come in contact with a number of professionals involved in curating, critiquing and producing contemporary art. They will ultimately gain proficiency in presenting their work to professional standards, including portfolio production and skills in networking, exhibiting and marketing.
