BA(Hons) Interior Design
Interior Design is about taking creative risks and thinking radically. Many practitioners work with actual buildings, but many also become furniture, lighting and exhibition designers, illustrators, designers for film and television, and the designers of virtual environments. Located in the Division of Art and Design, we are extremely well-placed to embrace this rich diversity, and we encourage our students actively to pursue their own design interests wherever possible.
Primarily, the course focuses on the innovative use of materials, colour and lighting, but you will also study anthropometrics, ergonomics, materials, structure, environmental control and sustainability. In addition, you will receive tuition in a wide range of presentation techniques, including two- and three-dimensional computer aided design, digital image creation and manipulation, and video production and editing.
The teaching is mostly project-based, and you will have easy access to our excellent design studios and model-making, print-making, media and IT facilities.
The University has very good transport links with London, giving easy access to major exhibitions and world-class examples of design and architecture.
