Social interactions are designed everywhere, including public spaces: some happen intentionally others occur from the people’s spontaneity. Today in public spaces we have a third variable affecting human social interactions: technology. This hands on workshop is a half a day practical workshop involving tutorial and a workshop on designing innovation trough research of public spaces using research approaches traditionally used in architecture. The diverse group of participants will learn how to extract new ideas from everyday situations such as how strangers behave in an elevator and what makes them start a conversation. The workshop will involve: 1) theoretical part consisting of a tutorial on the research methodology 2) group hands on session 3) presentations and extrapolation of ideas for social computing innovations.
The results from the workshop, including the methodology will be disseminated in a booklet.
