A Retail Safari!

Year One Spatial Design students kicked off a project on retail design, by being taken on a ‘retail safari’ in Central London.

Starting at Waterstones flagship Store in Piccadilly, with a tour by the store manager, the students were given an insight into the history of the building and its grade II listed interior, they were also were told about the current re-branding of this retailer, and how that had impacted on the interior environment.

The tour then continued up Regent Street, to Oxford Circus and finishing at Great Marlborough Street. All establishments explored the historical context, environment, form, journey, colours, material qualities, lighting and applied brand identity.
