Spatial Design second years have recently completed a design project where they were asked to research, develop and design student accommodation. The design requires accommodation for two separate dwellings, to include a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, study space, entertaining space and storage.
The accommodation had to fit within a constrained space of 4x4x4 metres, with access on one face of the cube, and glazing on the opposite face.
The students had to look carefully at ergonomics and anthropometrics within a set, tight amount of space – developing intelligent strategies to overlap and share certain areas, only clever thinking could deliver a design solution that functioned efficiently and practically.
The finish designs were really well explored creative solutions, showing innovative use of spaces, all illustrated by some excellent spatial models.
