Hannah is a third year Fine Art Student, this is what she says about her work:
My work is the documentation of a flux of paint and colour. I follow an experimental process, using many mediums to create beautifully colourful, vivid and abstract work. I am influenced by the natural world and its beauty, and I incorporate the natural movement of liquid into my current work. I allow the colours in my work to merge and drift naturally, to create forms, shapes and patterns which could not be recreated with a paintbrush. I experiment with surface and texture, manipulating the canvas and exploring new ways to create my paintings.
I specialise in painting, but I have also experimented in other mediums including drawing, installation, video and sound installation and sculpture.
I am currently in my final year of study for my BA in Fine Art at the University of Bedfordshire, whilst also involving myself in many local exhibitions to display and sell my work. Some exhibitions I have coming up include, ‘Xhibit’ at Chicksands Priory House Feb-April 2011, ‘Into Spring’ at the Letchworth Arts Centre in March 2011, and Priory Heritage Centre in June 2011. There is currently some of my work on display at Wardown Park Museum until 27th February.
In 2009 I joined the Artists’ Network Bedfordshire, which has been a great help to me, as they are a voluntary organisation who support and help artists to enter exhibitions. So whilst I’ve been studying I’ve also had many opportunities to exhibit and sell work. They also organise their annual ‘Open Studios’ event, which I took part in last year and am planning to do so again this year.
